| Some Questions to ask: | Who to ask: |
| Isn't it a conflict of interest to serve on a committee who has as one of it's only missions to install speed bumps, against county policy, on collector/arterial roads, when, in fact, those bumps are proposed to be installed on roads in front of or very near committee members own private residences? | ghaadvisorycouncil@hansville.org See also the Whose Idea Was This? page where you can compare road committee member addresses with the location of the speed bumps. |
| Since the GHAAC wasn't officially recognized by Kitsap County until June of 2007, did the County Public Works department spend money inappropriately to do a mailing of approximately 2,000 post cards for what was then just a private group? | ghaadvisorycouncil@hansville.org See also GHAAC list provided by Kitsap County Open Records Request, not made available from GHAAC |
| Local residents and county records tell us that false 25 mph signs were posted on Hood Canal Drive south of the hairpin curve. Further, some residents got speeding tickets by Kitsap County Sheriff Dept. deputies. When asked, the Sheriff Dept. claims ignorance (click here for their response to an inquiry about this.) How can a crime, like tampering with road signs which some regard as a federal offense, get ignored by Sheriff investigators? How can we trust the validity of all of our other speed limit signs? | Steve Boyer, Kitsap County Sheriff (no known e-mail -- 614 Division St, Port Orchard, WA 98366) David White, Division Chief, Detectives/Support Services Division Email: KBrezler@co.kitsap.wa.us |
| Where did Road Committee Co-Chair Kathleen Bourassa get her traffic speed studies that she cites in the Kingston Community News in February 2008 when they seem to have no relationship to the traffic studies provided for May of 2007 by Kitsap County Dept. of Public Works? Click here for those statistics. | ghaadvisorycouncil@hansville.org |
| Kitsap County's policy on speed bumps is, if a road qualifies for them, that local residents must pay for them themselves. Why were the Hansville bumps paid for out of taxpayer money earmarked for cyclists and pedestrians? Was this a misappropriate of funds? We think so. Do you? ASK! | Commissioner Steve Bauer Commissioner Jan Angel Commissioner Josh Brown |
| Most police and fire departments across the nation oppose speed bumps on collector and arterial roads for a whole host of reasons. Why didn't the Kitsap County Sheriff's department and our local fire and rescue organizations stop this activity? We'd sure like to know. | Steve Boyer, Kitsap County Sheriff (no known e-mail -- 614 Division St, Port Orchard, WA 98366) David White, Division Chief, Detectives/Support Services Division Email: KBrezler@co.kitsap.wa.us |
| The Kitsap County Sherrif's Department knew that a false 25 mph sign was posted illegally on Hood Canal Drive a few years ago. Did they investigate this and bring the perpetrator to justice since tampering with road signs is a serious, if not, federal crime? They also issued speeding tickets for folks exceeding the phoney 25 mph limit. Did they refund those tickets and correct driving records? How could they have been issuing tickets for violating a speed that wasn't even legal? | Steve Boyer, Kitsap County Sheriff (no known e-mail -- 614 Division St, Port Orchard, WA 98366) David White, Division Chief, Detectives/Support Services Division Email: KBrezler@co.kitsap.wa.us |
| How is it that the design that was submitted to the roads department and the sketch (Their "as builts and/or engineering drawings") for the actual speed tables don't match at all with the actual bumps they installed on the roads? Beep4bumps demanded all county records regarding the as-builts and engineering drawings. What we got was -- in a word -- nonsense. Is the Kitsap County Dept. of Public Works completely incompetent or were they told to put something there that had nothing to do with the design that they themselves originally proposed? | Commissioner Steve Bauer Commissioner Jan Angel Commissioner Josh Brown |
