Is it possible for you to put a links category on your site showing links and addresses to the State Representative, Attorney General, Washington State Human Rights Commission, County and State Commerce Division and other sites that residents can file complaints. You've done a fantastic job getting information out to the community - thanks.

After making several attempts to reach our commissioner by phone, I sent an e-mail to Steve Bauer on October 30, 2007. (Exerpt below)He did not respond. He has since stated he will only respond to the Greater Hansville Advisory Council (GHAC). Why? The members of GHAC were not elected by the citizens of Hansville to represent the community to the county. I hope the residents of Hansville understand the importance of signing the petition. These petitions should remind Mr. Bauer that his salary is paid for by our tax dollars and that he works for all of us. They should also send him the message that the residents of Hansville did not request the GHAC to be their voice. If the residents don't recognize the GHAC, neither should Mr. Bauer. Sent: Tue 10/30/07 7:49 PM To: sbauer@co.kitsap.wa.us How did the Greater Hansville Area Road Safety Advisory Committee acquire the power to change the speed limits for Hansville? A small group of people made major decisions that profoundly affected an entire community. If the COMMUNITY had known what was coming, the new speed bumps in Hansville would not have been installed. Look at a new website that was created: www.beep4bumps.com Because Chris Endresen ordered the bumps to be installed, and you're her successor, the Kitsap County Public Works Department claims you're the person with the authority to remove the bumps. It's interesting to note that the Public Works Department did not recommend these bumps, and felt there were better ways to deal with the issue. Who is held responsible? Is it Kathy Bourassa, co-chair of the Road Safety Committee? Is it Commissioner Endresen and Kitsap County's Scott Diener who approved the budget? Most importantly, what can we do now to change this situation? Do we start petitions? If so, how many signatures would be necessary to make the bumps disappear? Please advise.

It is evident that the bumps which are called 'calming devices' have done nothing to calm!!!! They have created an uncalming situation in this otherwise calm community. I am afraid that those who favor the 'bumps' feel that those who do not favor them are promoting speeding--far from the truth!!!! I think everyone on occasion finds themselves cruising a bit over the limit because of watching for people and creatures along the way more than their speedometer. If you have ever hit a deer, you become even more wary of what is going on along the road and the sides of the road because you do not want a repeat. The bumps cause you to slow down to go over them--even below the speed limit. I cannot maintain the 30 mph on Hood Canal Dr without fearing my 22 year old car which I have put 213.000 miles on and is held together with scotch tape and bandaids will fall apart. I have already had some minor problems with it which were fixed by tweeking some wires and the problem was fixed--could they have been jarred loose by the bumps???? I have tried going over the bumps at various speeds and it seems the max I can do is 18 mph. The same for down town Hansville although I feel the bumps there are a bit smoother. For people to say they allow you to drive the speed limit, I would love to see them go the limit over these bumps and not have damage to their cars. I had one person who loves the bumps tell me they can go over the bumps at 30 mph. I know this person goes throug down town Hansville rather than Hood Canal Drive. Is going over them at 30 not speeding since the speed limit there is 25???? Then, the bumps at night are another issue. If you have a car behind you, the headlights from that car blind you as they also are trying to maintain the speed limit and flash their headlights into your side view and rear view mirrors.

Hi John; I'm pleased to read the "NEW News" on your beep4bumps web site regarding the petition drive to remove the bumps (note I didn't refer to them as "speed bumps" because if you're going the posted speed they are BUMPS. Jennifer stopped by our house with the petition. She lost her clipboard in 1/100th of a second and left with three signatures- Don "DK" Kaylor, Erin Felt (we own two places in DK) & my brother Donny Berg who lives down the street. We couldn't sign fast enough. Please don't take this wrong- but only 20 signatures-? We put our names and addresses on this petition. Is there a way we can go through these and make a map showing who is for and who is on the dark side. If we note someone hasn't signed or picked a side- we need to stop by and ask. If we note the locations of the dark siders we don't need to pester then. (I know what it's like to have something pushed on you, you don't want like maybe this petition or maybe these bumps.) John and all of you folks working on this removal project- I think I love you... Please keep working to get our smooth streets back. DK- mr.dk@comcast.net

I was going to work traveling down Hood Canal Dr. I went through the s curve and while approaching the first speed table, I noticed a car coming out of the driveway before the second speed bump. I followed the car and noticed it traved 35 MPH until it got to Little Boston Rd. The speed limit is also 35 MPH. This car traveled at speeds up to 48 MPH. This appears to be a double standard. Drive slow on the road that I live on, Cliffside, because I said so. I don't have to obey speed limits on other roads because I live on Cliffside. It sounds to me like these people would all make good preachers. Do what I say, not what I do. Are these people really stupid enough to thank we will set back and do nothing. I have some advice for the folks living in Cliffside. You need to take a lot of metamucil, your full of it. Dan

Great site; wish I'd seen it sooner; thanks for all the work. I don't usually have time for meetings but I might start. I live in Shorewoods and was *never* surveyed. I did see articles in the local community paper, but they implied that any traffic-calming devices would allow cars to pass over at the posted speed limit. LIARS! My cars are taking a beating and so is my patience. I've only lived out here for a year and at first thought it was great that we had a "community committee". Now I wish they'd all stay home and keep out of everyone else's business. I see that every one of the petition-signers for the HCD/Bridgeview tables live on HCD or Bridgeview. Community support? LIARS! If I'd known this community was "represented" by a bunch of selfish nanny-state control freaks, and that they were going to deny my access to my house except over speed bumps, I would've moved somewhere else. From what I'm reading here, it seems obvious that the speed tables are illegal (and the 30 mph limit on HCD and the 4-way stop at Ponderosa and Aspen probably are as well). Why not start a collection to hire an attorney to fight this travesty?

Will we find corruption everywhere we look that Chris Endresen and GHAAC/RSAC was involved? I am having difficulty coming up with record of the petition on the ridiculous 4 way stop on Ponderosa that was put in totally outside the guidelines that were set up to protect the general public. Now we have the Sheriff deputy there writing tickets on occasion. Reminds me of the ticketing on the illegal 25mph signs on HCD. The mess gets bigger and bigger when this stuff is implimented outside the boundaries of the written rules.
