What Makes You Beeping Mad About These Bumps?

What makes me "beeping mad" is that, instead of going through channels to have the speed bumps removed, you are encouraging people to cause harm to other residents who are as disturbed as you are by the speed tables. People have been going by at 5:30 in the morning blowing air horns and waking people who desperately need their sleep - such as one man who has terminal brain cancer and is disturbed by the fact that people are inconsiderate enough to harm innocent citizens. If you were truly able to get a petition signed by 634 Hansville citizens, you could have petitioned to have the speed tables removed - and if you had done your homework before making this a personal battle with innocent bystanders, you would have known that. The Kitsap County Website has a downloadable petition form for you to present your concerns to the road service and have the tables removed. Further, there is a way in which each of your fellow enthusiasts can petition the road works department individually, at http://www.kitsapgov.com/pw/openline.htm. This would be more effective than taking out your frustrations with government actions on your fellow citizens. You cannot argue that you don't have time for extra meetings and then complain that your voice didn't get heard. Take some responsibility for your own actions and inactions and stop harming people that have no part of the problem that you are trying to address. for the woman who is upset about having to go over a speed table with some moron behind her with his brights on, get angry at the moron. though I highly doubt you will post this, as there is nothing in here you can retaliate against, as you did Mike no name (give me a break, he was wishing that you had to suffer the consequences of your actions, not threatening to do it himself), I had to say my piece - for those who are being harmed more by you than any government action.

The bottom line on this whole issue is that the speed bumps were forced upon all of Hansville without any regard to the legal aspect of it and now Bauer is struggling to justify why he did such a thing without following the laws. I think he should should be hit with a big fine for breaking the law and be responsible for correcting this situation.

Hi John, I noticed some repairs on one of the bigger speedbumps on Hood Canal Drive...I would like to know how much that cost us. I do want to say that they are looking more and more tacky by the day. It's a shame because it has ruined the beauty of Hood Canal Drive and they are becoming more and more dangerous. I think as long as the bumps are on H.C.D. they should have big flashing yellow lights for safety. They cannot be seen until you are right on them at night or during a rainy day. Another thing I'm wondering about...since the bumps went in is it just my imagination or are houses going up for sale along H.C.D. at a alarming rate? I am sick and tired of going over them. They are ugly and unavoidable. C.C.

Hi Matt, Is fbeep4bumps@live.com your real email address? I hope you understand that threatening to burn someone's house down is pretty serious business. --John

I cannot believe you really put together this web page because you have to slow down 5 miles per hour a couple times on you trips. You must have absolutely no life. I not a big fan of the bumps either and I too have to drive over them but you have to be kidding. The horns from the cars driving over them wake me and my neighbors up at all hours of the night, some of whom have kids. Donâ??t be surprised if someone retaliates which I am sure they will. The people like me who did not vote for the bumps are paying a price because you are a complete inconsiderate asshole. I hope someone sets your house on fire for all the lost sleep and annoyance you have caused. GET A LIFE. I am sure you wont post this but at least you have been warned

I wish the people who are in favor of the calming devices would drive over them at night with someone on their tail with their brights on and feel the impact on both the rearview mirror and the side mirrors. It is a blinding experience and likely to cause more accidents than driving the speed limit (or, as our commisioner said 'slightly over'). I know there are speeders and the ones who drive way over the speed limit constantly should be ticketed. Most of us try to watch the speed limit but when you are watching the road and what is ahead of you more than staring at your speedometer, probably find yourself going a few miles over now and then. But, I do not think the majority of people try to speed. There are those few who do but with these speed bumps we are more likely to have an accident at night due to blinding lights of the car behind. I am a stubborn Swede and they don't get more stubborn than a Swede and I proudly have my Beeps for Bumps sign high on a tree in my yard, thanks to a kind sole who was not afraid of ladders! Today, I was rewarded with someone beeping as they went past my house. It was an honor!! Not sure why all those people in Cliffside have a problem with the beeps!!!! As for some of the comments, like we gripe now but did not go to meetings, many people out here still work. I, personally commuted to Seattle to work while all this was being decided. I am now retired, but when these meetings happened, I and many out here were commuting 2.5 hours each way plus the day at work and did not get home til after 7!!! Also, many retired people have other volunteer things they are doing for the good of everyone in Kitsap County. You can only do so much and when the wool is pulled over your eyes, you do not always know which extra meetings are important to be at.

Where were all of you when the subject was being discussed and debated, ie, before the speed bumps? Change things by participating. I commend your efforts to get your views aired and to organize your opposition to the bumps, however, I agree with the GHAAC position on the bumps. Its a safety issue and so far as I can tell from reading your inputs they are just so much sour grapes.
