I wish the people who are in favor of the calming devices would drive over them at night with someone on their tail with their brights on and feel the impact on both the rearview mirror and the side mirrors. It is a blinding experience and likely to cause more accidents than driving the speed limit (or, as our commisioner said 'slightly over'). I know there are speeders and the ones who drive way over the speed limit constantly should be ticketed. Most of us try to watch the speed limit but when you are watching the road and what is ahead of you more than staring at your speedometer, probably find yourself going a few miles over now and then. But, I do not think the majority of people try to speed. There are those few who do but with these speed bumps we are more likely to have an accident at night due to blinding lights of the car behind.
I am a stubborn Swede and they don't get more stubborn than a Swede and I proudly have my Beeps for Bumps sign high on a tree in my yard, thanks to a kind sole who was not afraid of ladders! Today, I was rewarded with someone beeping as they went past my house. It was an honor!! Not sure why all those people in Cliffside have a problem with the beeps!!!!
As for some of the comments, like we gripe now but did not go to meetings, many people out here still work. I, personally commuted to Seattle to work while all this was being decided. I am now retired, but when these meetings happened, I and many out here were commuting 2.5 hours each way plus the day at work and did not get home til after 7!!! Also, many retired people have other volunteer things they are doing for the good of everyone in Kitsap County. You can only do so much and when the wool is pulled over your eyes, you do not always know which extra meetings are important to be at.
