What Makes You Beeping Mad About These Bumps?

Chris, Sorry but I have no intention of censoring the website on your behalf. Hugh Tucker interviewed Chief Nichols WITH A WITNESS PRESENT and reported what Mr. Nichols said to him -- simple as that. I know you probably didn't want it reported. If you want to accuse Chief Nichols or Hugh Tucker of lying, you'll have to take it up with them. Frankly, your email to the county's public works department says almost the same thing. You can see it at: http://beep4bumps.com/uploads/endresenemailtoPWdir.pdf It's interesting that you've been completely silent on this whole Hansville mess (that you were largely responsible for) and all you can do is point fingers and accuse people of lying? Pretty pathetic. I had been a supporter of Maria Cantwell but I think she exercised very poor judgment in hiring you in light of how badly you violated the public trust here in Hansville. And then you leave us with Steve Bauer, a former Bellevue city manager with a very, very checkered past. I'm not sure which is more offensive to the area. I have to ask you... did you enjoy casting your vote to install speed bumps here and to install GHAAC as our phony Hansville government and then get Bauer appointed and then conveniently walk away. And by the way, are those your parents or what on Twin Spits Road? People told me Kitsap County government was bad but I had NOOOoooo idea! Yikes! -- John Hostvedt

Your article from Hugh Tucker has a glaring lie in it. I've never met Mr. Tucker and I never told Chief Nichols that the speed tables would happen whether he wanted them or not. In fact, Chief Dan Smith worked with the committee for over a year and we discussed the issue a number of times. I would not have approved the speed tables without the cooperation of the fire department. Please remove this erroneous quote from your web site. Thank you Chris Endresen

What makes me 'beeping' bloody mad, and has for a very long time now is the simple fact of the GHAAC 's apparent 'democratic' approval of the bumps, let alone their very existance and access to make 'public policy'. The first thing I tried to learn about the speed tables, was whether this was an actual vote involving the GHA, thus giving it some actual standing politically. More than shocked, I was greatly insulted as a member of the community and registered voter, that I nor my family and neighbors recieved any notification of the tables let alone a community vote! Personally, I see this in the highest sense a disregard for the democratic process that is due for ALL levels of government. Another thing that worried me was for the welfare of my older neighbors and grandparents. The 'offical' claim is that this will not cut down ambulence response time, though as Ms. Melody Butler has stated, ambulences just like other automobiles (if they value their suspension system...) have to decrease their speed for the tables anyways. As for studies on the actual effectiveness of the speed tables, as any researcher or even grade school child can tell you, claiming results from someone and somewhere else is one thing, to prove its truthful claim you will have to study the process YOURSELF. Until such a study is personally conducted by our county government AND posted/make available for its community residents, I cannot find reasonable proof for the use of speed tables. John, good sir, I do hope you show our county government and this so called 'representative council' GHAAC, what their community really wants on their roads and in their government. Best of wishes and luck at the meeting!

I am so glad Ms Butler wrote her firsthand reasons against the bumps since this was a legitimate reason to be concerned about the bumps. A few seconds can make the difference between life and death and beyond that, the quality of life if there is a delay in some procedures. I think we all can live with the bumps if we have to even tho we are not happy about how we got them, but life and death emergencies are another issue. A speed bump in a mall is one thing, but on the main way out of an area is another issue. One bump 'somewhere' might be workable but when the ambulance has to go through 4 of them, in a short time, that does become life and death. It is one thing for a firetruck to have to go over them but when an aid car goes over and cannot 'stick' someone, that makes a big difference! I admire her for speaking out on this issue as a first hand example of the fears of a person in that position. It is not about dogs running off leash with their owners afraid they might get hit when they should be on leash--it is about a human not getting critical medical care as needed because they cannot get that while going over the bumps in an aid car.

I live on Hood Canal Drive NE and for your information I thought I was having a heart attack on April 1st. 911 was called and they responded quickly. With in ten minutes I was being transported to Harrison Hospital. On the way the aid car had to slow down for the four speed bumps on Twin Spits Rd. The medic attending me needed to do a blood draw to see if I was nearing cardiac arrest and hook up the necessary IV but we had to wait until we were past all four speed bumps before it could be done safely. I can not describe the fear I felt because of the delay. Today I am doing fine but have a new perspective about the hopefully speedy removal of the speed bumps in Hansville. When you have to call 911 time is of the essence. Mrs. Melody Butler

Hi Doug, I post messages from "A Johnson" and "Matt notmyrealname" to show the public what represents the pro-bump camp. Obviously they are both fake names. In fact, "Matt" our would-be arsonist, wrote an email to me directly later saying his "real" name is "Matt Jankins." This is the guy who wants to burn my house down... or should I say "hopes someone else does it." Same thing. There's no record of a "Matt Jankins" in Hansville. The pro-speed bump folks are cowards, simple as that. As proof, go to a road committee meeting with a camera and you'll find out very quickly that they don't even want their neighbors to know who they are. They are horrified at the site of a camera. Folks who want the bumps removed have put their names on the line rather than lurking around in the shadows writing threatening emails. They are the heros of this community. They are the ones who stand up to the phony "A Johnsons" and "Matt Jankins" of the area. My hat goes off to all the Hansville residents who have said enough is enough, we're not going to put up with these nasty little bullies any more!!

Its too bad there are so many innocent bystanders that are getting punished by the bump situation. I'm pretty sure though that the numbers that are innocent bystanders are absolutely dwarfed at the bump front properties when you count the rest of the 600+ innocent bystanders that are punished every time they have to travel to the "outside". A Johnson should think about where he's pointing the finger. Thanks to all who are keeping up the fight against these perpitrators.
