I just wanted to point out that the fire hydrant just immediately north of the northernmost hump on Cliffside was knocked over and still is wrapped in plastic, I can only speculate that a vehicle lost control on straight roadway after hitting this hump and hit a fire hydrant. All this in the middle of summer when traction is excellent. One has to seriously wonder about the potential for loss of control at the posted speed limit when we have snow and frost on this roadway. beyond a nuisance this seems more of a safety concern especially when one factors in emergency vehicle response times.

John, how great that some action has taken place against GHACC, I wonder tho if Steve Bauer is included in this suit. He should be. I checked the road construction schedule for 2008 and Hood Canal was not on there. I tried to access the info about the suit filed and couldn't get it. I'm a friend of beep 4 bumps, virus problems have caused me to completely change my email. Please add me to your mailing list when you have time. My whole tribe supports this effort.

What is wrong with you people? The road of life is full of bumps, get over it! I don't enjoy the bumps anymore than the next guy but come up with an alternate solution and stop complaining. I have read your website and have never seen such a well presented stream of manure in my life. The 3rd Reich would have been envious of your ability to contort the facts and disseminate the amount of ill will you have created. I attended the meeting as a neutral party but after witnessing the embarasssing way in which you conduct yourselves in a public forum there is no way in hell I would align myself with the likes of you, even if the bumps required a step ladder to get over. My fervent wish is that someone who beeps for bumps in our quiet town, beeps once too often and gets lead poisoning. Crawl back under the rock you came from. No please don't; find one a long way from Hansville and crawl under that. I hope it falls on you. Lets see if you have the balls to put this on your toxic website.

I love it. This is a great idea. I have been trying to think of something to do about those damn things. I think they also ruin a cars shocks. Thanks and keep up the great site.

I haven't heard anything about the 4/23 meeting. I attended and thought it was ridiculous that we had to sit through all of Bauer's repeticious material as to why we need those speed bumps. By the time he and all his cronies were done and he actually ALLOWED us to speak, on his terms no less, we were all hot and tired and worn out not to mention bored. I stayed until about 10 pm and then had to leave. Now I think we should be able to put on a slide show and have people talk as to why we should not have the bumps. Also, is anyone running against Bauer? Thanks, Kate

Below is a letter to the editor I sent to the NK Herald I sent Thursday 4/24. It wasn't in Saturday's paper: To the Editor, I had the unique pleasure of attending last nightâ??s community meeting in Hansville presided over by Commissioner Bauer concerning the traffic calming devices installed last year. What a donnybrook it turned out to be! American democracy in action! People from all walks meeting with their representative, their county Sheriff, and fire officials. A replay of the presentation given last year, which many of us missed for some reason or other, was given, also, the impact of the traffic calming devices on speeders driving on Hansville roads. Even Sheriff Boyer had his moment to discuss the speed tables. And, according to what I heard from him, apparently they not only slow down speeders, they also help in cutting down on methamphetamine traffic, breaking and entering, and are even contributing to the war on terror! Honest! He did mention 9/11! At a local meeting on speed bumps! With all the stats given, I am now confident that speeding has slowed in Hansville. Mission accomplished! But, when asked for statistics about automobile accidents and property damage due to speeding having been reduced, Commissioner Bauer looked a little lost, until a resident came to his rescue. She lives on Cliffside Drive and she has pulled out fewer errant drivers from a ditch near her house since they were installed. A telling statistic, donâ??t you agree? After attending the meeting at Buck Lake last week, I could not help but ponder something that was said (among many other things) that the speed tables in down town Hansville were 3 inches high and the ones on Hood Canal Drive were 4 inches high. Why is it that the Hood Canal ones are so much higher??? I have noticed they were harder to maintain the speed limit on--in fact, impossible, where the ones in Hansville were a bit easier. Today we took a side trip on Bridgeview and those were easier to maneuver. So, why is it that the tables on Hood Canal are so much higher and more damaging to cars and people's attitudes?????
